About the Position:

Sparring Legal is on the lookout for a Junior Legal Mind, a recent graduate from a premier law school in the UK or US, to become the newest member of our US team. We are a founder-focused and technology-enabled law firm that has supported 200+ innovative companies, and we are offering an exceptional opportunity to work on US legal matters from the heart of Europe. The successful candidate will be sponsored for NY or CA bar qualification, marking the beginning of a promising legal career with a global perspective.



– Draft legal documents and provide support in the execution of transactions, including financing rounds for tech companies and startup exits.

– Collaborate closely with our team of attorneys to provide innovative legal solutions to our tech and startup clientele.

– Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis on US corporate, contractual, IP,  regulatory, and a wide range of other legal areas.

– Engage in client communications, join meetings with clients and counterparties, and contribute to maintaining strong professional relationships.

– Take part in professional development programs, including preparation for the NY or CA bar examination.

– Engage with and co-create our legaltech tools to help modernize our offering and disrupt the way legal services are provided. 



–  Qualifying law degree (JD, LL.B., or select LL.M.s) from a world-renowned law school in the UK or US eligible for taking the bar exam in either NY or CA.

– Demonstrated interest in legal practice, with a particular focus on technology, innovation and startups.

– Excellent analytical abilities and written/verbal communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cryptocurrencies: Knowledge of various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, and other prominent altcoins. Familiarity with their unique features, use cases, and market trends.
  • Tokenization: Understanding of tokenization, token standards, and their role in enabling digital assets, security tokens, and decentralized applications

Managing Attorney, US Head

We are seeking a dynamic US Attorney with 3-5 years in-house or law firm PQE and sales expertise, to lead the US office of Sparring. The ideal person will have the unique opportunity of co-forming the US part of our business taking on a partnership role in Sparring Legal LLP. 

After establishing Sparring in 2018 as the legal partner for ambitious technology companies, we have supported 200+ companies in their success globally. With increasing demands, we are now expanding our US presence; this pivotal role will directly contribute to the global success of our current legal offerings for entrepreneurs and startups in the US. 

Your unique combination of legal proficiency and sales skills will be instrumental in ensuring our US office not only provides top-tier legal services but also grows our client base and maintains strong, strategic relationships in the US market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Nurturing and developing meaningful partnerships with local startup ecosystem partners such as VCs, accelerators, or communities.
  • Managing and growing our sales pipeline process, from lead generation through to closing. You’ll be a key driver of creating opportunities and passing them to our US team.
  • Attending technology and startup events primarily in California, but with the flexibility to attend events in other US locations. 
  • Providing comprehensive legal advice focusing on corporate, contractual, and regulatory matters in addition to business advisory. You will collaborate with our existing US attorneys in projects including early stage investment rounds (pre-Seed to Series B).
  • Leading our existing team of US qualified attorneys. You will serve as a mentor for our junior colleagues, enhancing their legal professional growth and development.

Ideal experience/skills

  • 3+ years of work experience with US (NY, DE, or CA) corporate / contract law and startup legal matters. Experience in leading a VC round and corporate financing instruments is beneficial. Client intake, case management, and business operations experience.
  • Hands-on experience in the Startup/Technology Law ecosystem is essential. We are looking for someone who possesses a growth mindset and an eagerness to embrace and adapt to new technologies.
  • Previous experience in sales orientated responsibilities, including securing new business opportunities and fostering emerging and existing partnerships.
  • Proven leadership experience, and confidence in fostering an empowering environment where individuals are encouraged to take responsibility. 
  • You should be a qualified attorney in at least one of the following jurisdictions: NY, DE, or CA.

Targeted Salary Range: $200,000 to $250,000

The base salary range listed above is for candidates located in the U.S., including the Bay Area, California.

This posting is for a partnership role. A competitive package including a partnership position and KPI-based cash compensation will be provided based on the experience of the successful candidate.
